We hosted our first event ‘Magical Weddings’ last month and can’t wait to share the lovely advice our vendors provided to all the brides and grooms-to-be!
- The Venue – Spontiphoria Boutique & Café
Spontiphoria is a cute Dubai-based, homegrown independent concept store and cafe located in Al Wasl Square, Jumeirah 2, wherein people catch up for coffee and homemade baked treats. It hosts events as well, including bridal showers, and creates customized wedding cakes with the freshest hand-made ingredients.
Advice about wedding cakes: We suggest our clients to take inspiration from the decor at the function or from the bride’s outfit. For instance, if there are flowers in the backdrop, we recommend using the same flowers in the cake which will make it look extraordinary or if the bride is wearing a particular style or themed outfit, we can incorporate that into the cake as well.
- The Photographer – Imprint Studio
Imprint Studio offers wedding photography services, with a style that is contemporary and cinematic. It focuses on capturing the love and joy shared by couples and their loved ones on their special day and showcase the relationship that has brought them together in this moment in time.
How to decide on the right wedding photographer: The owner of Imprint Studio, Anish Ahuja, says it’s very important to first decide the kind of photography the couple is looking for – old school or candid. Most photographers have an expertise in candid wedding photography, and will hence be apt for the couple who prefers to go candid.
- The Bridal Designer – Nova Krishnan Couture
Nova Krishnan is a bespoke label that promises personalized haute couture exclusively for private clientele. She uses unique luxury fabrics with refined details and colors giving a feel of modern opulence. She recommends brides to finalize their outfits 2 months before the wedding, as she designs each dress on her own which is immaculately hand-crafted in-house under her supervision (not outsourced) to ensure product quality and timely delivery.
What goes into designing a bridal outfit: According to Nova, every thing plays a role when designing the dress for the bride, especially the time, the theme and the location of the wedding. She strongly believes in the 4 C’s of Fashion – Cut, Color, Creativity and Comfort, based on which all her designs are conceptualized. She first does a design illustration for her client and shows her fabrics, embroideries and any thing that will be used to implement the design, after which an embroidery sample swatch is created by the in-house craftsmen. The pre-fitting stage begins, wherein a muslin fabric is used to create a sample gown to determine the minute adjustments required for the bride’s fit and comfort. The bride can see her fabric and dress in the second fitting, after which the details on the dress are perfected and it’s ready for delivery.
- The Hair & Make-up Artist – Mira’s Bridal Styling
Mira’s Bridal Styling specializes in bridal henna and is popular for her unique and innovative henna designs, including personalized couple’s stories, portraits and bride’s and groom’s faces. She has also ventured into providing hair and make-up services for brides and wedding guests. Mira suggests booking a MUA 3 months prior to the wedding, and be ready with the color of the outfits and jewelry.
Makeup and Henna tips and tricks: The best way to look as fresh as a daisy on your Big Day is to drink lots of water and be hydrated before and during the wedding. Also, doing the bridal facial 2-3 months before the wedding will help settle skin reactions, if any, in time.
- The Wedding & Event Planner – The Day Events
The Day Events is a wedding and event planning company that caters to an extensive variety of wedding styles and budgets, and handles all aspects of a function right from the venue to the food. The owner, Rania, aims to incorporate the personality of the couple in the wedding. While she takes approximately 3-6 months to plan a local wedding, it takes her at least 6-12 months for a destination wedding.
Decor trend for 2018: Marble, black and geometric shapes are trending this wedding season.
- The Wedding Stationery Designer – Design Tuk Tuk
Design Tuk Tuk creates unique & fun stationery for all occasions, including wedding accessories, invite designing, signage, giveaways, etc. It aims to demonstrate the personality of the couple through the invite.
Wedding stationery & photo booth ideas & tips: Kanika advises couples to opt for invites based on their interests and personality, as weddings are all about personalization. For instance, they provide a passport invite for the couple who loves to travel, a magazine invite for the social couple, and so on and so forth. A yellow scooter would be an apt photo booth backdrop for a Mehendi function, along with customized props.
- The Entertainer – DJ Nitesh
DJ Nitesh is one of the most popular DJs in Dubai, known to burn the dance floor with his upbeat mixes. He strongly believes that however much a couple spends on the decor or venue of the wedding, music is what brings it to life and hence, is an important aspect to consider. He prefers discussing and deciding on his client’s song list and requirements before the wedding.
How to choose a DJ for your wedding: Nitesh insists on attending the event where the DJ is playing, in order to get the real feel of the entertainer’s work. YouTube is another good way to assess the quality of the music a DJ plays. However, word of mouth works best when it comes to selecting a DJ.
