Rahul & Jaya's Wedding in Udaipur, India
Long time sweethearts Rahul and Jaya met when they were fifteen, and celebrated their union with a glamorous wedding at Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Udaipur.
How we met:
We met each other through a common friend when we were 15 years old.
Our wedding planning was smooth as my brother, Parish Phulwani, decided and executed everything – from the décor to selecting the vendors, from the venue to the couple entry for each day. Nowadays I see so many people getting stressed and worried about the entire wedding process, especially the bride and groom. But, thanks to my brother, we did not face any stress and enjoyed each and every moment of the madness that was spread across three days.
Feelings on the Big Day:
On the wedding day, I was full of energy as I was very happy and excited about my wedding. I did not bother much about how I was looking and I just wanted to dance and enjoy each and every minute that was passing by. Rahul was a bit tired on that day, as we had slept really late the night before- we were partying with our friends till the wee hours of the morning after our Sangeet function.
Rahul and I went to Delhi for our wedding shopping with our moms, who were really helpful in selecting our outfits. The entire process was quite smooth and we had loads of fun – we used to leave early in the morning and come back really late after a long and tiring shopping spree; and we would be up for shopping the very next day, with the same amount of energy and excitement.
We had six events in total:
Sufi with Mehendi: Bride – Plazo with Kurta and Side Jumar; Groom – Sufi Jacket with Kurta Pajama
Buddha Bar Theme party: Bride – Short Dress; Groom – Jeans, Shirt and Blazer
Moet Morsel (Champagne Brunch): Bride – Sea Green Lace Short Dress; Groom – Sea Green Blazer with White Pants and Blue Shirt
Ring & Sangeet Ceremony: Bride – Indo-Western Gown; Groom – Sherwani
Baarat & Pheras: Bride – Lehenga; Groom – Sherwani
Fairytale Reception: Bride – Gown; Groom – Lazer Suit
The only requirement we had was to have an open space outdoors for the Pheras since the weather was quite pleasant. My parents had attended a wedding in the same hotel and they loved it so much that they decided to book it. Rahul and I did not even see the hotel until we actually went to get married there!
Performers and Performances:
We hired Krishna Beura for our Sufi Night, and our friends and family performed on a skit which was choreographed by Dimple and Kamal Chandwani for our Sangeet. On our Reception, we did a couple dance, which was followed by a performance by my cousin Disha Phulwani, who is the best dancer I have seen so far!
Advice for to-be-weds:
Don’t stress and spoil the moment, enjoy each and every moment as this day will never come back in your life again!
