Parish & Renaira's Wedding in Pattaya, Thailand
Here’s the story of a pilot, Renaira, who fell for a businessman in China, Parish, and their super grand and lavish wedding held in Pattaya, Thailand!
How we met(bride’s version):
Me – He stays in China! No way!
Him – She is a pilot! No way!
These were our first reactions when we had heard of each other! Neither of us took this even a little bit seriously. His parents saw me at a wedding and I only saw his picture, as he wasn’t there. We had never met, seen or even heard of each other. He was cajoled into messaging me on the 7th of May by my uncle who, in his mind, had ALREADY decided to get us married!! I least expected him to give in to my uncle and message me, but he did.
It took all of one text message from him to realize that neither of us could let this go. That message turned into hours and four days of messaging (day and night) like we were already the best of friends followed finally by a phone call to fall in ‘More Than Like’ with each other.
The day Parish and I met in Mumbai for the first time, there was this surreal beautiful spark between us that has only grown with time! There has been no looking back ever since. He brings joy and contentment in my life like no other and we seem to be inseparable. You can definitely say he is my better half, best friend and soulmate 🙂
We knew from day one that we wanted a grand wedding – something like a carnival for every single person we have loved, cared for and shared our memories with. We wanted to express our love for each other through our wedding and make it a trademark for years to come. We put our heart and soul into it for months and went into great depths to make our dream wedding come true.
From the smallest details like the decor, themes, our entries, what to gift our beautiful guests on each function to making sure that they were entertained throughout the wedding with various games and activities during the functions and massages, high teas, and more, we planned everything with our most wonderful event planner, Innaz Communique, from Indonesia.
In the end, we are just glad that it all turned out to be beyond our imagination.
Parish wore brands like Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, Dolce Gabbana, Louis Vuitton for the functions, while I chose Amy Billimoria to dress me up for my wedding.
Schedule of events and outfits worn on each function:
We had six functions starting with Mehndi, which had a very picnic style theme to it, followed by an Airport theme party in the evening named Parinaira Airways. Next day started with an afternoon beach party themed around beautiful pastels on the beach, followed by a royal Indian themed Sangeet party in the evening. Last day started with Sindhi ceremonies like Ghari Pooja, which was followed by the Baraat and the Pheras. Our Pheras had a grandeur traditional theme with the mandap set up on the beach. The last evening ended with a beautiful fairytale themed Reception.
One of the obstacles we faced was that we were getting married during peak season and almost all the hotels were booked out. Eventually, after checking with every hotel in Thailand for months on end, we found the most beautiful hotel in Pattaya, Centara Grand Mirage, and finalized it.
Performers and Performances:
On the Sangeet night, we hired Badshaah to entertain the guests and let them party till the wee hours of the morning. The MC was Kubra Sait for all the functions.
Advice for to-be-weds (one or two sentences):
Stay calm and enjoy the process of planning your wedding. Things are going to look difficult, even impossible at times, but it will all fall into place in the end. Enjoy your wedding, as it’s those two or three days that will be the best days of your life. Forget about making it perfect because you already did the best you could and just live in the moment during your wedding days, as they will never come back!
And please, please invest in good photographers and event planners. It will make your life the easiest and these are the people that will give you the perfection, memories and a fairytale that you all are seeking for your dream wedding.
