Lavin & Harsha's Proposal in Dubai, UAE

Lavin’s version:

We have known each other for donkey years; she’s my high-school sweetheart who has now become my fiancé. We first properly met at a high-school Christmas party in December 2007, through mutual friends.

We then moved on to university and were doing long-distance for 3 years, after which I joined her in UK for my masters in the same university where she was completing her bachelors. What a stroke of luck! Since then, we have both grown and supported each other during the most decisive phases in our lives. In short, we’ve been through thick and thin, and I was so sure that there’s no one else I wanted to live and grow old with.

The Proposal:

As her dad best describes my “strategy”, I first roped in her siblings one by one, and then approached her brother-in-law, wooed her mother next and finally brought in her father, my parents and my sister and brother-in-law into the whole proposal planning phase. Her younger sister, Anisha, was my chief proposal coordinator, well supported by family and friends. All this, while Harsha (pet name Tina) was living her routine life without a clue of what’s ahead

I came across the proposal venue through a direct google search “romantic restaurants in Dubai” – innovative approach I know! In fact, the first hit was 101 Dining Lounge at One&Only The Palm. I did consider other venues, but ended up going back to the first lounge. We first had drinks at the Jetty Lounge at One&Only Royal Mirage, and then took a complimentary shuttle boat to the lounge at One&Only The Palm, where friends and family were waiting for the surprise!

Her reaction was priceless and the whole setting was fantastic! We popped champagne, cut a cake and soon after, danced into the wee hours of the morning with a desi clubbing night at Inka Sofitel, Some traditions always remain 😉
