Jeftin & Priti's Wedding in Dubai, UAE

Jeftin and Priti's wedding was a beautiful amalgamation of Christian vows and Hindu ceremonies, filled with a whole lot of sentiments, fun and love in Dubai!

How we met:

Dubai is a really small place! Jeff and I kept running into each other at several clubs and we ended up having a number of mutual friends. One night, I asked him to dance and he politely said “I don’t dance.” The next day I woke up to a Facebook friend request and the rest, as they say, is history!

Wedding Planning:

The wedding process was definitely stressful, but with the help of our friends and family we made it through! We had to tackle a few logistical issues when planning – first up, we belong to two different religions. He’s Christian and I’m Hindu, so we had to incorporate both sets of ceremonies along with our different South and North Indian traditions. We didn’t hire any planners – Jeff and I became the planners. We had A LOT of meetings and A LOT of excel sheets. Our friends were quite supportive on the days of the events and helped us organize everything!

Feelings on the Big Day:

The first wedding day was the Church wedding. I was particularly nervous that day, because the ceremony was so new to me and it was the beginning of a whirlwind week! The second wedding day (29 August) was a bit more emotional for me. It was the second to last event, so the emotions were all mixed! One thing is for sure – both of us thoroughly enjoyed every single event. We had so much fun with our friends and family, who had come from all around the world!

Wedding Shopping:

The wedding shopping wasn’t that stressful. I started early enough to allow myself time to figure out my options! I got my church wedding dress made from scratch from the amazing Berna, and wore the same thing for our cocktail reception afterwards. My Sangeet and Reception lehengas were from a quick shopping trip to Jaipur – they were literally picked off the rack! My Hindu ceremony lehenga was very special to me, as my Nanaji (grandather) had left that lehenga for us when we were quite young. I basically modernized the blouse and skirt and got an extra chunni (long scarf) made for it.

Schedule of Events and Outfits worn on each function:

August 26th was the day our church ceremony was held, followed by cocktails at the JW Marriott Hotel, Dubai. On the 27th, our Sangeet took place at the Le Meridien Airport Hotel. 28th was a rest day – but for me it was my chooda (bangles) ceremony. On the 29th, our Hindu ceremony followed by our final Reception was held at The Conrad Hotel. We didn’t have any themes – just a lot of fun!

Jeff got his clothes from the amazing Varoin Marwah.

Wedding Venues:

For our church ceremony, we wanted a place that made us feel as if we were outdoors and not in a ballroom. The JW Marriott Hotel has a indoor courtyard area, which was just perfect. It wasn’t formal and our amazing décor guys at Al Mahad Flowers completely transformed it into a miracle garden! For our Sangeet venue, our main aim was to ensure there was enough space to dance and Le Meridien Hotel was perfect for that! The Conrad’s ballroom is quite large so it helped us divide the ballroom into a space for the ceremony and the Reception, without compromising on our timeline. Plus the ballroom went perfect with our events!

Performers and Performances:

Our friends and family from all around the world put on some amazing performances! We had speeches from all of our friends and family as well.

Few words on the photographer, videographer, hair/make-up artist, bartenders and DJ:

Every single one of these people are life savers and memory makers! Wouldn’t have been able to do it without any of them!

Advice for to-be-weds:

Don’t worry so much about what other people will think. Make sure you and your partner enjoy every single moment because it goes by in a flash! And Brides – PLEASE make sure you have all your COMPLETE looks sorted (hair and make-up) before your Big Day, so you don’t waste time deciding the day off!
