Jackie & Leena's Wedding in Goa, India
We bring you the story of Leena and Jackie, who takes us through their love story right from how they met to the point they tied the sacred knot.
How we met:
We were introduced through a common friend at a club. It was a theme party and I was wearing a funky wig. She spotted me from far and wanted to click a picture with me, as she was pretty fascinated with the colorful wig. One of her friends knew me, and introduced us and the rest, as we say, is history.
Wedding planning was more like a long wedding process. A lot of effort was put from both the sides of the family. There were also a lot of inputs from our relatives, wherein there were some interesting discussions about previous weddings in the family & how we worked on the shortcomings. We were quite inspired by the ideas on our social media platforms as well.
Feelings on the Big Day:
The wedding day itself turned out to be quite hectic as there were several rituals to be undertaken. Before the rituals for the groom started, we had the thread ceremony for all the boys in our family – it was a very emotional experience for me (the groom).
I did my wedding shopping from Mumbai & Dubai – Most of my Indian wear was from Mumbai & I decided to get all my western outfits from Dubai itself. I’m actually a simple man, and my wife enjoys deciding my wardrobe – so I was basically a mannequin for her 😉
Indo-western for Sangeet – no theme
Shorts & shirt for the pool party
Suit for Bollywood-themed Party
Indian kurta for the Thread Ceremony
Sherwani for the Pheras
Tuxedo for the Reception – Christian Wedding theme
I wanted to get married at the beach during sunset, as it was at the top of my bucket list. As a matter of fact, the hotel that we chose (The Lalit) was actually my last resort. But as we went into the details, it best suited our needs.
Performers and Performances:
On the Sangeet night, my family & friends performed on a skit. The following night, my brother compiled a surprise video consisting of interviews from Bollywood stars for the couple (you need to see it to understand)! All the elders from our family also danced to solo numbers with old classic songs playing in the background. The last night we got married the Christian way, and hence played a video (which my wife had made) that consisted of our photographs from our childhood days right up to to the day we got married.
Few words on the photographer, videographer, hair/make-up artist, bartenders and DJ:
You need to make sure they all have a good rapport so that everything goes smoothly. The DJ should be dynamic & should be able to adapt to the taste of the audience.
Advice for to-be-weds:
Do everything you need to before the wedding and ensure that you don’t take any stress on the Big Day and enjoy the wedding!
