Deepesh & Shivani's Wedding in Bali, Indonesia

It took just one ice-cream date for Deepesh & Shivani to fall in love. Here's their 'sweet' love story which was celebrated with great vigor in Bali, Indonesia.

How we met:

Deepesh & I had been friends for a very long time, but it was one summer when Deepesh took me out for an ice cream date, that the love between us just blossomed. I was still studying in Canada at the time when we started dating, but whenever I was in Dubai we were inseparable.

Wedding Planning:

Wedding planning was a lot of fun! We first started to plan our wedding by visiting different locations. Our wedding planner, Serrao took us to Bangkok,Thailand, Malaysia and Bali to look at potential resorts. Initially, we liked a few resorts but once I saw Ayana Resort & Spa in Bali, I fell in love with the place. We locked down Ayana for our dates and flew back. My dad, Deepesh and my uncle then coordinated every single detail of all our wedding functions. They had to take a few trips to Bali to finalise everything.

Feelings on the Big Day:

The wedding day itself was filled with bittersweet emotions – I was so excited to marry the man of my dreams but upset to be leaving my parents and sisters.

Wedding Shopping:

Wedding shopping was super fun, but stressful! I had no idea on where to begin with the wedding shopping, so before we began the shopping I had to do some research online. I wrote down a list with all the details of the designers we had to visit once we visited India. We started our wedding shopping in Delhi, where we decided on some of our clothes, and then we flew to Mumbai to finalise the remaining outfits and jewelry. I had to fly to Mumbai around 5 to 6 times before we got married to finish my shopping.

Almost all of my outfits were by Manish Malhotra, except for my engagement gown which was by Salma Khan and my wedding lehenga which was by Sabyasachi. Deepesh’s outfits were from Rohit Bal, Manish Malhotra & Stallion Bespoke.

Wedding Venues:

The only requirement for the venue was that it had to be a destination with stunning views. Ayana Resort & Spa is located on a cliff and is surrounded by the sea, hence we couldn’t stop ourselves from falling in love with it.

Performers and Performances:

We had a few performers at the wedding. At the Sangeet, we first had the skit that was performed by our friends & family. For the skit, we had recorded a video of how we met and we had co-ordinated the dances with each scene of the video. Then we had Mika Singh perform live for our guests, whose performance turned out to be incredible! On the second day, we had two after-parties – one for all our friends and the other one for the elders. At the elders’ party, we had Nitin Mukesh perform. He is an unbelievably talented singer; the elders enjoyed their party so much that it went on till much after our party was over!

Advice for to-be-weds:

Being married to the love of your life is the best feeling ever! Life is all about the little moments you create with the one you love.
