Gulf-based Keralite businessman, Ravi Pillai, had a Bahubali-themed wedding of Rs. 55 crore for his daughter Arathi, in Kollam district at Asramam ground. Arathi, a doctor, tied the knot with Adithya Vishnu, who’s also a doctor based in Kochi.
Ravi Pillai, one of the richest Keralites with a net worth of $2.8 billion (approx. Rs. 1,858.8 crore), is as generous as he is wealthy; from the Rs 55-crore budget, Rs 10-crore was spared solely for charity initiatives. Around 30,000 guests attended the ceremony, including 42 global leaders, comprising of royal members from the Middle-East, CEOs of various companies, government representatives, politicians, film stars, technocrats and diplomats. 250 cops and 350 private security personnel were also present, ensuring security for the high-profile guests.
The wedding, planned by the film art director of Bahubali itself, Sabu Cyril, featured dance performances by Malayalam film actresses Manju Warrier and Shobhana, a musical show conducted by Stephen Devassy, a dance fusion by Navya Nair, ghazal recitals by Manjari, and a Naga drama by actor Mukesh and his wife M ethil Devika. The wedding set was spread over eight acres and cost more than Rs. 20 crores. The pandal was made by a team of 200 professionals led by the film’s art director, who took nearly 75 days to create it; he exclaimed that the wedding set was larger than the one he had actually made for the movie!
The bride wore a lovely Manish Malhotra ensemble, paired with dazzling diamonds.
