Ankur & Ridhi's Wedding in New Delhi, India
With their first meeting at an amusement park, Ankur and Ridhi tied the knot 10 years down the line with a cute owl-themed Mehendi!
How we met:
We met 10 years ago through common friends at an amusement park and have not spent a day apart since then.
We both knew we wanted one grand Reception and the rest of the functions low-key. We also wanted to keep the wedding as intimate as possible, so our wedding planner, Abhinav Bhagat, and my parents helped us a great deal in making it all come together.
Feelings on the Big Day:
We were both over the moon! I was very excited and, of course, much more relaxed once the wedding was over.
I had been collecting my trousseau since the past 3 years! I bought my bridal jewelry from Reasons in Hauz Khas and NIMAI in Shahpur Jat and my Indian outfits from Anita Dongre and Nikhil Thampi. I also went for a day trip to Jaipur with my wedding planner, who happens to be my dear cousin – he knew just the right places to pick outfits up from (Vasansi, Ranas Legacy, Monisha Thahryamal and Amrapali Jewelry). All my bags, shoes and western wear were bought from the various trips I took abroad over the 3 years span!
Schedule of events and outfits worn on each function:
I knew I wasn’t going to wear typical bridal shades of reds and pinks, so I chose to wear mint with a red and pinkish dupatta for the wedding. For the Mehendi, the theme was owls, simply because I’m obsessed with owls (they are so cute)! Abhinav did a fantastic job with the floral owls in the decor and I incorporated the same in my outfit as well.

The requirement for the venue was that we needed a huge hall capacity and Pullman New Delhi Aerocity seemed like the perfect choice. Plus, the food at the hotel was amazing!
huPerformers & Performances:
We had Guru Randhawa and DJ Shadow perform at our Reception. While we girls danced on the songs ‘Dear future husband’, ‘Main bani teri Radha’ and ‘Nai jaana’, the boys performed on ‘Tan Tana Tan Tan Taara’. We also did a couple dance on ‘Nazm Nazm’.
Few words on the wedding planner, photographer, videographer, hair/make-up artist, bartenders and DJ:
The glam look at our wedding was the work of Abhinav Bhagat. It was wonderful working with him; he totally understood my vibe and did the Mehendi decor exactly how I wanted it. We have people talking about it even now! The Wedding and Reception decor was also par excellence; he helped us with all the planning, including the little things like designing the bar menu, the luggage tags and the room hampers – everything went super smooth thanks to Abhinav! I would recommend him in a heartbeat (I might be slightly biased as he is my cousin but still!).
I must compliment my make-up artist Savleen Manchanda – she was a lot of fun to work with and was very sweet as well. My skin kept reacting to the makeup (I have eczema), but she kept applying things to cool it down and make me feel comfortable. I loved my Mehendi look the most (that’s totally me), followed by my Reception and Wedding look.
I was very pleased with our choice of photographer, Hitched & Clicked, as they were really patient – any other photographer would have run away trying to handle me and my husband’s tantrums! They were really sweet and the beautiful images that they have captured prove that no one could have done their job better.
